Next Dissent! Gathering>>>

Dissent: October National Gathering

 http://www.dissent.co.uk/

The Dissent network saw thousand of activists come together in July to create a mobilisation of opposition to the G8 and also the space in which our idea’s for future organisation were realised. Since the G8 there have been many discussions that have focused on the future of our network, our politics, and priorities. At the last gathering the overwhelming consensus was to maintain the Dissent network and this gathering will present the opportunity to solidify our plans and visions for the future.

In order to facilitate this process, The Matilda Collective would like to invite all autonomous groups and individuals interested in discussing the future of Dissent to attend the next National gathering in Sheffield on the Weekend of October 15th/16th.  http://wiki.sheffieldsocialforum.org.uk/MATILDA

The gathering will take place at Matilda Social Centre which was initially opened up as a the host for activists in Sheffield organising opposition to the G8 Justice Ministers Meeting in June 2005. Since then, the building is being used as a social space for the creative and practical ideas of those wanting to create alternatives.

Agenda:

Anticipated agenda items include: -

* Proposal for an action camp in the summer of 2006 targeting the real sources of climate chaos;
* The future of the Dissent Network! What are our priorities? How do we sustain momentum?
* How can we be most effective against the G8 in 2006/2007? (This includes discussion on the effectiveness of mass mobilisations).

If people would like to add points to be discussed people should email  dissentprocess@lists.aktivix.org with proposals and topics.

Hey! An Equally Exciting Alternative

03.10.2005 23:17

If you cant make the Dissent gathering and want to do something equally worthwhile and interesting then here´s a money-saving alternative for an equally rewarding experience.

Start rooting around your home for that old tin of paint. You know the one that had a little bit left in when you finished painting the bathroom. You kept it just in case your walls got scuffed. Well I have a suggestion to put it to much better use that´ll also adds about 25 quid to your current cashflow, and avoids big headache.

Use it to paint a metre square of wall, and watch it dry. Wow! Just as exciting and worthwhile, and you have saved the fare to Sheffield. Now, you can use that money to buy a decent book, CD or DvD. Too good to be true, isn´t it?

Next, wait about a month and you´ll receive a copy of the minutes of the Sheffield Dissent Gathering, which will blame Bob Geldof, Bono, and Nelson Mandelela for everyhing that went wrong with Dissent and the G8 protests. It´s then when it dawns on you what a great move it was to have stayed at home watching paint dry that weekend.

Ouch!

You never know, could be the ideal solution to the problems of anticapitalism by keeping them all occupied while everyone else gets on with something useful.

On that basis, I'm really hoping it'll be a huge success, depends on whether the middle class wiberals have gotten bored yet though...

So what's happening this weekend? Nothing!

15.10.2005 21:47

... No reports on IM; the Dissent web-site hasn't been updated for ages; is anything happening at all? No! Just a few middleclass liberaltarians and spies getting together in Sheffield to make a mess of things.

Can anyone contradict the apparent reality that the Dissent Edinburgh G8 mobilisation only narrowly failed to be complete failure because of a few activists from mainland Europe?

Without these few visitors from abroad it would have been a complete and utter disaster led by fools and spies who, at this stage should remain nameless.

Can anyone please give evidence that all Dissent seems to do is copy what the socialists and other groups of activists and campaigners do. Except they do it much less effectively with considerably more funding, and in a much more sectarian manner. Please explain that this isn't true, and why.

Additionally, the Dissent leadership seem to fear socialists more than they do liberal capitalists. This is a very strange mentality indeed. Some of them are shit scared of the SWP other socialist and their like??? Why is this? Can someone explain?

And so not expect State security services to correctly answer these questions.

It great! No, brilliant. There's a big team of MI5 Mi6 and anti-terrorist officers up there monitoring a meeting that doesn't matter. The main achievement is that they have been confused. And if they believe this comment then they would be even more confused.

The state and its agents are in a complete confusion and near desperation. Not only over subversive activities that seek to undermine the liberal capitalist state, but over so called terroists, and over the re-emergence of the left throughout Europe, the continuing growth of the left over the world, and the economic collapse of the west. Fucking great. That's what Dissent has helped to achieve - to confuse the already deluded and its agents. And I take my chuffing hat off to uncle Tom Cobly and all including Dissent for achieving that.

One example: They are beginning to pass laws in this country that we are all going to just laugh at and ignore. The delusion of the idiots grows.

Another example: the USA is finally showing significant symptoms of collapse and degeneration. For instance: the US liberal capitalist want and need to invade Iran, Korea and Venezuela (and a few other nations). But it cant! It hasn't got the army or hardware to do it. That's the only reason why mass murderer Bush, the mad neocons and the deluded idiot Blair wont support it. They haven't got the army and they haven't got enough money at their disposal to make the armies bigger. The banks wont give them the money because the banks know its a bad investment. They are basically fucked. Billions and Billions have been poured into the Iraq catastrophe, probably the worst military disaster in the history of oppression.

We just need to wait for a civil war in the US and then Rome, and the legacies of its aggressive invading military empire will finally eat itself overnight. History repeats itself again and again for the idiot oppressive aggressor.

The liberal capitalist are devouring themselves. looting Peter to pay Pauline. It's time to take advantage of their weakness and fear which they strive so well to hide. The bankers would do well to support social democracy and socialism now if they want to keep a job. But they wont because liberal game theory tells us they are incapable of working for their own collective good.

So confuse the shOne T out of whatever sense is left in these sick oppressors.

A wooh!
