# The East Midlands Vegan Festival takes place exactly midway through the Copenhagen Climate Conference; reducing animal products is The Simplest And Most Effective Step an individual can take to reduce their carbon footprint. See http://51percent.org/
# The event is to be held at the Council House; the Council are urged to follow the lead of their Twin City, Ghent, in adopting a weekly Veggie Day. See http://veggieday.org.uk/
Our choice of diet is critical to the survival of the planet - a massive proportion of climate change is caused by livestock farming and the production of meat/dairy products.
This event adds to the demand that world leaders take the urgent action we need to prevent the catastrophic destabilisation of global climate.

Your help is invited
It is the interests of all vegetarians and vegans, and campaigners for social justice and climate justice, to encourage more people to join them.
This will
* increase the availability of veggie & vegan food in shops.
* encourage more caterers to provide excellent choices on their menus.
* make the provision of other veggie goods and services more viable.
* create business opportunities for fellow veggies and vegans.
* further all the positive benefits of choosing a healthy and ethical diet.
All of this will make it easier for you to be vegetarian or vegan yourself.
Whatever your reason for being a vegetarian or vegan, wouldn't you like others to share your ideas?
Then the East Midland Vegan Festival is for you.
Not (only) as an opportunity to consume, but as a chance to share - share your knowledge, your energies and your commitment to your diet of choice by giving practical support to the event.
If every vegetarian and vegan in the East Midlands were to spare an hour before and/or during the event, imagine how many more people could be reached.

The Festival will be followed by the Climate Solidarity Party at the all-vegan Sumac Centre, with a People's Kitchen Meal, 'Wholesome Fish' and more.
