Airport makes plans to go green
East Midlands Airport has announced a plan to make its site carbon neutral by the year 2012.
The airport's environment manager Neil Robinson said it was important for the site to cut down its carbon emissions.
Mr Robinson said where carbon emissions at the airport could not be reduced, measures would be taken to offset consumption, such as planting trees.
Airport managers are in talks with the National Forest as they hope to heat a new terminal extension with wood.
Mr Robinson said: "We're trying to go further and faster than anyone else with these changes."
For an expanding airport to claim credit for reducing the environmental damage it causes as a result of its largely uneccessary business is like a child beater expecting praise for only hitting the kinds every other day. Just to remin you Mr Robinson we are taking about the destruction of ecosystems, species being wiped out and billions of people unable to be fed.
Give me strength!
