The Riverside festival is a council run festival held just up river from Trent Bridge and the Victoria Embankment, as one of Nottinghams biggest annual events complete with a spectacular firework display it's definitely worth a look.
This year the festival was spread over three days. There are a wide variety of events and activities going over the weekend to the sound of local bands and a big variety of world music.
There is of course a big street fair installed for the three days with all the rides, stalls and candyfloss you'd expect, not quite on the scale of the Goose Fair but sunny days and balmy evenings by the river are infinitely better than freezing October fog in my opinion.
The main attraction with the riverside festival is that there are loads of cool cultured things to do as well as eat huge quantities of mushy peas and sit ashen faced on stomach churning rides. They have three stages and two street theatres on site with a variety of bands and acts to entertain you., plus there are arts and crafts displays, dance workshops and allsorts of other stuff going on including some excellent street artists and performers doing shows round the site.
As in past years .... it included a 10,000 plastic duck race, on the River Trent http://www.up4aduck.com
[aye up me duck! a Nottingham expression :-)]
The fireworks are on at 10.30pm and is massive and reflected in the trent a site to behold, certainly one of the best displays you'll see in Nottingham. Best place to see it is on the terracing on the waterline.
