For several days now protesters in Bolivia involving students aymara peasant farmers miners armed with dynamite and school teachers and unemployed workers have been demonstrating in bolivia and have now effectively taken over the streets of the capital la paz demanding such things as nationalisation of hydrocarbons the resignation of the government and its president carlos mesa and the calling of a constituent assembly to draw up a new constitution for the country.
31st may more mass marches in la paz plus reports of barricades going up in parts of the city with also reports of police firing gas grenades at the masses. The masses show no sign of giving up however and as the protests and shutdowns extend all over Bolivia momentus events could well be occuring.
