Why build new homes at all. There are thousands of empty buildings all over the country already and we don't need more.
If we do need new homes why not build them without provisions for cars. This is what some European developers have done and it saves land, provides cheaper accommodation and discourages car use. There is a railway station about five minutes walk from the new housing development.
Finally if you going to build new housing for car drivers then you certainly don't need to destroy more land and ancient trees just so you can get from one road to another a little bit faster. That is really pathetic.
Finally the decision by the local council was made because the council chairperson told the councillors that there was nothing they could do about it anyway. This was untrue. Now another meeting is planned to discuss revoking the plans. But if Bellway evict and destroy the site there will be nothing left to save.
