The Thessaloniki Seven, imprisoned and on hungerstrike in Greece, are in a desperate situation and need all the solidarity we can give them. Will all local supporters please make every effort to attend the activities being organised this weekend in support of them.
Friday 21st November 7.00pm at the 1 in 12 Club in Bradford -
Benefit evening and dinner to raise money for the Defence Fund of the Thessaloniki 7 (see below.) As part of the evening a video will be shown of the arrest of one of the seven, British activist Simon Chapman, featuring him being violently attacked by the cops who then blatantly plant a rucsac containing petrol bombs on him. There will also be two speakers, long-time activist and Anarchist prisoner Mark Barnsley, and Christina who was present in Thessaloniki. Further information can be obtained from Tom on 01274 400 587.
Saturday 22nd November in Leeds
1.00pm - Campaign Against Prison Slavery picket of Wilkinson's city centre store. Further information from Mark on 07944 522001.
2.00pm - After the CAPS picket there will be leafletting of city centre travel agents in support of the Thessaloniki Seven.
6.00pm - A candle-lit vigil outside the Greek Consulate. Meet at the Roundhay Fox pub, Roundhay Park (buses 12 and 2 from town.) Please bring candles, lanterns, or torches, banners, and warm clothes. Further information from Mark on 07944 522001.
Sunday 23rd November in Leeds
An evening of political films including the video of Simon Chapman's arrest and a film about the Thessaloniki action. The Packhorse pub near the University, 7.30pm.
