add your responses / thoughts for zine making please
People were welcomed - welcomed to the Hope Happening 2nd Palestine Café held at Yoma.
As they got themselves either fruit juice or YOMA’s excellent coffee / tea, many activities were explored, viewing the art on show, Tom Maccoy's The Approach and brief spy at how differant bookshops might view Palestine - (hey check out Palestine and the Palestinians).
People typed up a line or three for the Hope Happening zine and anarchist nonviolent conspiracy was afoot. Of course Hanthala was kind enough to be at the heart of our happening and inspyred us no end with his natural observations of oppression and hope.
Needed nibbles were available (all for free) to all Happening along, Zatar, Palestinian olives, pitta bread, dolma and gherkins and a sate or two was ingested for further hope.
Olive trees got sponsored and others hoped to get one for the ongoing promotion of nonviolence in Palestine - the trees help the farmers resist the occupation. Sometimes the trees get stolen - hey though they just wanna go back to the land - we help them each time we sponsor them or each time we accompany the olive harvest in the autumn.
Sarah sang to us like a nightingale - unpertruding, melodic tones of sound - everyone liked her songs so much. Others had a go too and it was pleasant that they could.
On Hope and thanks
Hope of course comes in many forms – a ray of unexpected sunshine, the first buds of spring, a spontaneous yes instead of the usual no– so hope was helped to happen here - so thanks to so many who will be unnamed.
Where does hope come from
Whether it’s from a friendly smile or glance to me stranger, or a cheery chat over a cup of hsopitalitea with a friend, in this pleasant environment hope happened for us - all of us. And since we had a helping - we are able to share it with others - in this instance Palestine.
Donating towards or sponsoring olive trees in Palestine enhances the lives of people struggling with occupation, war and oppression, like the boats going out of their way to bring aid to war torn lands it always depends on some form of community – Hope Happens in Community despair happens when you are left to linger. He have hopes we share hope - we dont have hope we have nothing to share.
Be aware yourself
We did not mean to tell anyone hard facts this night – we ask you to think for yourself and do your own research about Palestine, we do mean to assist hope happen for Palestine this is our clear unequivocal bias. Not a lot is needed to be known to realise that there is a need for hope and compassion.
Feelings
There was no intention to upset anyone this night, we are indeed all responsible for our feelings – though some of us have hopefully happened to believe that Palestine needs most compassion and hope, and Israel needs to have it too (who can say in what measures).
So, radical hospitalitea was replicated like in Nablus (on my recent visit) and together many people and their messages made hope happen - Hanthala smiled and supped his drink.
Nonviolent Calm Interventions were whispered and dreamed - and Jesus nuts were mentioned in whispers to subversives (who dislike hostility and dynamite intensely). Fun was proverbially had be all - thankyou.
