It has been brought to attention that the government wish to consider it a legal requirement in the new tax year to introduce laws insisting anyone applying or re-applying for an entertainment license must have a noise control device fitted to the venue. This will be the final NAIL for ALL entertainment in the UK as the level at which these devices CUT you off is dreadfully low and damaging.
PLEASE DO NOT INTRODUCE THIS LAW, WE LOVE LIVE MUSIC!

E.G.:
What is the noise limit proposed?
usually the noise limit accepted by environmental Health differs according to both location, time and environment
What are the devices proposed?
For example, would stating on your licence application: "Q:Noise control devices fitted? A: Volume button" be sufficient? (im joking, but seriously think about it)
How will this be enforced?
All venues already have noise restrictions in their licenses (see above) and the only time an issue is caused is when some pokey neighbour calls environmental Health....
So, if the venue isnt going to be ratted on it will be yet another one of those unenforcable laws
I would seriously like to see the actual wording of the act so i can assess this one...anyone know where it is? i have just spent 3 hours searching the net, and nothing.....just forum discussions similar to above
one quote that sums it up at the moment for me:
"anyone noticed that what this petition is against, is a rumour of it happening, not that it has been announced that its happening."
Until the actual paperwork is revealed i can help think that guy got it right
