Video -Time to Go March Manchester
23.09.2006 21:14
I have just got home from the “Time to Go March” in Manchester and decided to see what was on the net. I first tired the mainstream media, not much worth looking at and at best played down, then thought Indy Media and came here.
The first thing I clicked on was this video and was blown away when I spotted a familiar face ambling along and smiling at the magnificent crowd around him. Wow that person was me, near the end of the film. I was wearing a red short sleeve shirt, and carrying a “Time to Go” banner. I would love a copy of any video you have of today, just for the happy memories it will invoke in the future.
I noticed the police where better behaved today, the only people I noticed them filming was the Samba Band. I asked the copper what he was going to do with the stuff he shot and he was very touchy and disappeared into the crowd, very low key compared to most of the demos I have been to lately.
I enjoyed today but felt a little disheartened when standing outside G.Mex looking at a big New Labour are God poster plastered on the front of the building. I wanted to climb up and tear it down. We have to do more than just march.
When we got to G.Mex we should have had a small team with a banner or something and climbed up the building and sprung it out for all to see, a bit like Fathers for Justice Style I think or Green Peace.
Anyway despite this miner point the day was worth the effort and will not be forgotten.
All the best….Peace….Respect….Mark…:
P.S. I can be contacted on my Anti-War Blog. I would love to add something to my pages. Also a big thank you goes out to all the people that made it today, the atmosphere was incredible.
