On the second day of major protests in the city, there seemed to be a significant difference from the first - the police, at times, appeared to be outnumbered, and although they succeeded at splintering and fragmenting the entire demonstration into small sections that would then dwindle, there was still an impressive turnout, particularly by the end on Devonshire Green. I witnessed one arrest, but am unsure as to how many took place in total. On the way to Devonshire Green, on West Street, it appeared as though police attempted several lines to stop the march, but put it back several times, and even had an attempted line broken by Rhythms of Resistance, who were at the front of the march.

i think that the punks proved that the people have the power on the second day of the protests in sheff.We decided to go up to the fucking hippy shite organised "lets eat rice in devonshire green for poverty"bollocks probably organised by the local catholic girl guides!!and made the authorities and mp s realise that people and especially the youth are "gettin restless!!"lets try more direct action next time hippys just follow the punks!if it werent for us that day people would all of had a nice portion of rice and fucked off home feeling like they ve done something to really make a change.pussys!.....................UP THE FUCKIN PUNX!AND UP INDY MEDIA KEEP IT GOING ITS BLOODY MARVELOUS!!!!B.H.H.C
