The growing BNP support is not something that has received widespread coverage in the mainstream press. The BNP is no longer the old group of mouth breathers unable to string a sentance together. The two that came to my doorstep were articulate, well dressed and non-threatning.

We must take this threat for real, a few protests by long haired punks waving banners doesn't cut it anymore, that just makes us look like hippies while they look like a real political force.

Don't underestimate their growing political support, there are two groups in the UK who vote in large numbers, those over 55 and the religious right. BNP support is large in those two groups than any other. Since the UKIP imploded they have also picked u support and funding from their exteme elements. While the Labour and Tory parties have moved ever closer many in the UK feel their views are no longer represented and the BNP has picked up support from both the Left and Right.

Capitalism won the battle many years ago. In effect it won before any of the alternatives came along. Ideas like Socialism and its variations have failed because they represent an intellectual ideal not a living reality. Capitalism is like mankind's wish to explore, to learn, to interact with others. It's expansionive and inevitable.

Human nature calls for us to want more, more knowledge, more comfort, more sex and the extension of that is the wish to aquire material possesions that Capitalism provides. Expansion is inevitable, even where the space and rescources are not at the moment available.

The battle is won, only the timescales are being decided now.

It's essentially advertising a book. It may be a very interesting and informative book but the post is still advertising, complete with the price at Amazon.

Secondly its not news. It describes an incident that takes place in the 80s. Again this might be very interesting but there are all sorts of interesting incidents that have taken place in history. If Indymedia allowed anyone's latest history lesson to appear on the newswire it would be a very different site, it could end up as a forum for political history.

But anyway the comment about the book has only a tenuous link with the current article above. It wouldn't be unreasonable to hide these comments about the book article too. So if Danbert or anyone else is unhappy about an article that has been hidden you are always free to join in the discussion on the approriate Indymedia list. For the UK site this is:
