The campaign to provide our poor government with a
free hospital!
Labour in its second term is planning to greatly
increase the Scope of PFI (the Private Finance
initiative). Through this scheme private corporations
are getting thier gruby little paws on all our public
services.
For example in Sheffield private companies already run
the council treasury and housing benefit departments
while the clensing department is soon to be run by
Onyx.
The PFI system enables goverments to seemingly
cutbudgets even though the process costs them more in
the long run. This is because private companies stump
up the cash while, we the country have to pay them
back over a long period of time with cosiderable
intrest. This also puts a lie to the idea that Labour
is trying to reduce the national debt.
The Institute for Public Policy Research is advising
Labour to embrace PFI in line with the GATS agreements
the WTO are pushing for. Mr. Taylor of the institute
says that "It is in the public interest to use the
public sector to reform and rebuild the NHS" because
"the crucial ingredient the private sector possesses
is management."
Yes thats right the same management skills that cut
proper jobs in favour of mcjobs and puts the god of
profit over anything else. A private companies most
important brief will be to save money for the
departments of health and education. If they do this
they will recieve money but don't expect expensive
drugs or a text book per kid at school. No profit.
But we the kindly folk at the Brick Labour campaign
have a solution. If we all send every brick we can
find to labour over the next few weeks then they will
be alright. We aim to send them enough bricks to
build a hospital, but why stop there when there are
schools and council housing to be provided as well.
Those nice folks in the Sheffield Labour Party have
provided us with a free post address for our campaign:

This is also the campaign address for the lovely
Richard 'Tricky Dicky' Caborn, star of the Mark Thomas
Comedy Product, and the man behind the export credit
garuntee system. SO were hoping for an all round show
of public support for this initiative. Jsut don't
send bricks suitable for dam building as Tricky is a
bit of a bugger for that!
We will be displaying our results by builbing a brick
wall-o-meter around parliment, when the Mp.s return
after parliment.
We will be holding a gala fundraising event on June
7th. This is the 'Brick an MP Telethon' extravaganza.
All across the country campaign supporters will be
displaying their lobbing skills honned since J18, to
donate bricks to their local MP. Our commentary team
includes Jon Snow and his brick swing-o-meter and
Richard 'the rock chucker' Dimbelby. George Monbiot
and Naomi Klien will head up our 'not these two again'
tv. debate, because they are spokes people for us
right... hmmmm.
Don't delay rumage through you local skips, knock out
those dividing walls you allways been meaning to and
send us your bricks!
Thank You

BTW, check out Disillusioned Kid's posting about the S30 protest at New Labour's yearly piss-up at Brighton. The Kid's on a mission and he deserves all the support we can give. He's turned an idea into an event. Way to go, keep posting, Kid!
S30 . . . let's be there.
Now, where's that brick and an envelope?
Oh, who knows, could be anything
